coming into being

The series was created after a large fire in the rural area where I live. The fire burnt all the vegetation and uncovered the bones and death posture of a small buck.

This photographic image is not photoshopped but was created in situ.

It speaks to death and new life. While the whole area was charred, the fynbos vegetation, propagated through fire, was already dropping seeds to regenerate.

Morphogenesis

Morphogenesis refers to a biological process which causes an organism to develop its shape. It takes place in the embryonic form but can occur in a mature state as well.

Understanding this growth-shaping process is recognised to be one of the most elusive of enquiries.

What we do know is that all of existence is in constant transformation.
